A “major victory” was won on Thursday when the EPA revoked Archer Coal’s license for hill top mining. This previously issued license was revoked due to devastating environmental implications that included the destruction of water quality and wildlife a well as the surrounding Appalachian communities. The EPA cited the regulations put forth by the Clean Water Act to enforce the revocation of Archer Coal’s license at their proposed Spruce No. 1 mine project, a 2,200 acre area, in Logan County, WV.
